Northeast Texas Community College welcomes Artist Chris Brown as the exhibiting artist for October. His artwork will be on display from Friday, October 4 through Wednesday, October 23. A public reception was held on Wednesday, October 9, in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.
Raised in Paris, Texas, Chris Brown’s artistic talent earned him scholarships at Paris Junior College, Sam Houston State University, and Art Center of Design. After years of establishing himself in Dallas, Portland, and Los Angeles, Brown has returned to East Texas at 59. Nationally, his art has been prominently placed in city and country clubs through Club Corp of Dallas. Brown’s artistic style evolved from Abstract Expressionism to Assemblage in 2011, driven by curiosity and experimentation with non-traditional materials. Influenced by Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Louise Nevelson, and Lesley Hilling, Brown’s distinctive sculptures unify disparate objects. His work, now collectively known as ‘The Art of Chris Brown,’ is showcased at MODERN COUNTRY LIVING in Winnsboro, Texas.
