Headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul, Samsung is a South Korean brand. Samsung was founded by Lee Byung Chul in 1938 as a trading company. Since then the company has expanded and diversified into food processing, textiles, insurance, securities and retail. After decades, Samsung entered in the electronic industry in late 1960. Later, it came in construction and shipbuilding industries in mid-1970. After Lee’s death in 1987, Samsung was divided into four business groups- Samsung Group, Shinsegae Group, CJ Group and Hansol Group. Since 1990, Samsung has increased as an electronics brand. It has globalised its activities mainly on smartphones. However, it works from television to semiconductors. Coming to 2017, Samsung has become 6th highest global brand value as of 2017. Samsung has released its first smartphone in 2009 and its first android tablet in 2010. It launched the world’s first modular ‘The Wall’ QLED 8K TV in 2018. As an alternative to Android-based smartphones, Samsung has developed its own Tizen OS. Company has the vision to create a richer digital experience through innovative technology and products.
